In Joelle’s world, there are two types of people; there are Normal people, like her, who live totally Normal lives, pursue Normal careers, and raise Normal families to produce more Normal children. But in some cases, those Normal children turn out to be not-so-Normal, in which case a special place must be made for them, not only to accommodate their specific needs, but also to keep their dangerous abilities far removed from Normal society.
And when Joelle turns out to be not-so Normal, things get a little tricky for her. Not only must she deal with rivals, heartbreak, and crowds of dissenters; there are a few sparks thrown into the mix as well. Her ties to the past are as unrelenting as the fast-moving world. If she is to fully realize herself, she must either find a balance between the two or drown in the struggle.
